🌅 The Rise of Creative Entrepreneurs
Welcome to 'The Pledge' newsletter, all about making the journey from being a creator to a creative entrepreneur
Hi there 👋
This is Richard from The Pledge - a free newsletter to help creative entrepreneurs make a full-time living from their work.
This newsletter used to be called Crypto Communities and was on Revue, until Elon rightly killed off the platform where I experienced almost no subscriber growth.
I imported the NFT posts into a separate newsletter called Nifty Stack:
And all the creator focussed ones are now imported into The Pledge newsletter you are reading - you can check out the archive from a couple of years ago here.
Ok so onto today’s newsletter…
Cheers!

A Playbook for the Unemployable
One of my favorite current newsletters is Unemployable by Brian Clark, founder of Copyblogger. The H1 on his new website is:
No Investors. No Employees.
Big Profits.
This is something I subscribe to.
Brian has written a playbook for how to navigate this brave new 2023 macro world of recessions, AI automation and tech job losses:
The idea that a traditional job provides security or satisfaction has been revealed for what it is … a cruel joke.
And lately, plenty of people have realized that they’re better off going out on their own.
It will get much worse … artificial intelligence, automation, and other emerging technologies are threatening both the quality and quantity of traditional jobs.
On the other hand, there has never been a better time to be a creative individual
He’s calling this a personal enterprise approach where you continually grow and diversify your income, through creating successful products, and building your digital business empire.
His playbook is a free email course and it gets you on the unemployable newsletter as well.
Niche Newsletters Making Bank
You don’t need a big email list to build a six-figure business.
Darren Smith from Craftsman Creative hit his $10K/m revenue goal with less than 2K subscribers.
This is very similar to how I sold the Website Investing newsletter for six figures with under 3K subscribers.
The Creator Economy Expo
CEX 2023 is for content creators and entrepreneurs interested in building and growing their content-first businesses without relying on social platforms.
Join 500+ bloggers, podcasters, authors, newsletter writers, speakers, coaches and consultants, freelancers, and YouTubers at the learning and networking event for content creators.
Plan to attend this year May 1-3, 2023, in Cleveland, Ohio.
